TL;DR CA was supposed to have fiber optics in 2000, AT&T was given 12bill USD (in year2000 dollars) to service 5mill citizens. came out with DSL instead (which is an optimizaation of copper wires). Still supposed to have fiber optics, now have Uverse (DSL local, Fiber international), while taking tax breaks of ~1.5bill per year.

AT&T pretty much effed up internet development in Cali for the last... 16 years or so, and nobody cares.

Such bad service too.

The USA in general is overspending in Military and underspending in infrastructure- transportation, communications, all these inventions we've had for years would make everyday life so much easier, but we're spending it on war.

That's because the U.S. is a world power. This country is supposed to get all other countries on friendly/peaceful terms. You can't be prosperous in both military and in education/communication/infrastructure/etc. Since what happened in the past caused most countries to look to the U.S. for guidance, this country has to focus on war; the other countries will fear us, so we can control the peace in the world. Look at Canada for example, they aren't focused on war at all, but they are focused on education and improving the infrastructure and technology. You can't have everything, you have to pick one and not the other.
