Windows 8.1 Empty Windows 8.1

I can't play Mabi any more after I updated my computer from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. I tried a ton of different options, like uninstalling then re-installing; I tried using Steam but that didn't help either; I tried using compatibility mode for Mabi, but the game itself just disables the option. What should I do, I need some technical help with this Sad
